“Aunty the cake is very tasty” was the first thing I heard when I entered Itialano, there was this group of 8-10 kids celebrating their friend’s birthday and one of the happy kid excitingly telling this on top of her voice to the host kid’s parent-this certainly raised my expectations and made my taste buds impatient .
I was early then my scheduled time, the place was packed and buzzing with life .it was thanks to the management’s thoughtfulness of reserving our table in advance, that I managed one for us.
Italiano at cyber hub, 1st floor Gurgaon have its distinctive presence among the cluster of restaurants. It’s bright and cozy ambiance is very inviting. There is something casually warm feeling about the brick walled earthy place that instantly unwind you. Simple décor is enhanced by lamps, paintings, vases and plates with slogans .Sitting arrangement is divided – open air and enclosed!
The cane chairs, tables and canopies, are more than perfect to relish a winter afternoon meal under the sun. There is a small bar inside, and the aroma from the open kitchen salivate your tongue a little more.
Let’s talk about the food:
The moment I made myself comfortable on the table I was served with a refreshing Virgin Mojito, (a little extra tangy for my palate) and a cute basket of freshly baked bread with garlic and oregano flavored butter, which was difficult to resist, next was Tomato Basil Bruschetta,by now my friend have arrived and plates were empty in no time.
We were also served with cool and refreshing large jug of fresh Pomegranate and Basil Dream juice. Veg Salad –a combo of greens, tomato and bread. Which was nice and fresh.
Next was rather interesting Veg Platter which was assortment of Pesto Paneer skewers, pita bread with dips like spicy peanut Aioli, and Tomato Salsa, and the hero of the Platter Veg Tart – delicious- yummy is the word. My only problem was with the serving portion good for one, but platter portion have to be sufficient for at least 2.
Now it was time for main course, Penne Arrabiatta was tangy and fresh and had enough sauce, flavoursome, it was just perfect and delicious with distinct flavour. Pizza primavera Picante was very appealing to the eye, with it colorful toppings of zucchinis, red onion, tomatoes -fresh and sundried, jalapenos on a thin and crunchy base, was the winner !My main course was paired with blueberry Green apple smoothie – interesting combination indeed!
For me desserts are the most exciting part of the meal and I thoroughly relished the light, subtle flavor of coffee in Tiramisu –Divine! Blueberry cheesecake was also good.
My non veg friends also tried Lasagna Catalize – Pizza Pollo Pollo Pollo Pette Al Pollo – Filetto di Pesce alla Grill.
Overall it was a great afternoon at Italiano with good comfort food, good friends ,good interactions, and good ambiance !!
