A few days back when I received an Invite for the launch of vegetarian food Joint Swad I got curious and has been following all the developments. The moment Swad is mentioned; I start thinking of the mood-altering, tingling, tantalizing tastes of the Goodies.
World knows about the love of Delhi people for chatpata food and their quest in experimenting with various forms of food
Recently launched SWAD is superb all-rounder street food and more joint at the Nehru Palace of New Delhi. This is a restaurant that is designed in colorful and playful tones and instantly peps you up as you enter the space, the chequered floor adds lots of spark to the ambiance.
Swad has an interesting menu. Dishes from every state find it’s place in the Menu. The menu has a wide selection of simple foods from all parts of India as well as international popular food – the north, south, east, west and center, the difference being the presentations and freshness in flavours. The menu currently is separate for the day and Dinner.
let’s talk about food:
Chaat making is an Art in India, and this was so evident at Swad when my first drink, the amazing chuski in a glass came on my table.
Being an exploratory traveler myself, I wanted to explore more, so I quickly finished my kala khatha chuski and soon the chatpata journey began. It was a journey of real flavours of India. Soon many of my all-time favourite chaats from Rajasthan, South India Punjab, Mumbai and Indianised Chinese started landing on my table. As soon as I finished my Chushki, another drink, the AAM Panna was served to me. It was followed immediately by complimentary Watermelon Tabasco shot drink.
This was followed by Mini Dosa And mini Idili Platter I am a south Indian foods lover and for me coconut chutney served along with has to be right and guys believe me it was one of the best in town
.Next was Veg spring rolls I like the presentation and it tasted divine too.
The Dahi bhalla Served in mini Manson Jar was soft and the covered with thick layer of of creamy Curd and topped with Tamarind Sauce defined the perfection in texture and flavors, which I thoroughly enjoyed.
Whether it was Sadi Dilli Chole Bhature or Malai Panner tikka,to famous Raj Kachori to stuffed Mushroom to Galouti Kabab to Veg Momo – everything landed on my table for me to relish. And each and every dish was more than perfect in swad.
For me a culinary journey is never complete without a sugary end to my meals. And as a Indian we never offers his guest a dessert but call it mithai, I also call them Mithai section. And Swad has an entire section dedicated to Mithais from all over the country. I feasted myself on Jalebi with Rabdi and rose Phirni..
